June 14th, 2005

Fabulous food and entertainment for everyone!

The Izumi Japanese Restaurant is holding its 9th annual picnic for the clients and families of Simcoe Community Services on June 21st, 2005 from 4:00 – 6:30 p.m. at 40 Fraser Court

“This is a wonderful thing Mr. Lee does for the people we support”, says Lynn Price, Executive Director of Simcoe Community Services. “We greatly appreciate the generosity of his support.  He not only donates amazing fare but also brings his own volunteers to help cook, serve, clean up and even entertain!  He is an amazing supporter!”

Dong Ki Lee is the owner of the Izumi Japanese Restaurant.  He first approached Simcoe Community Services (then The Barrie & District Association for People with Special Needs) in 1996 about inviting our clients – children and adults who have an intellectual disability - to his restaurant for a complimentary meal.  The rest as they say is history!

Since that time, Mr. Lee has been a staunch supporter of Simcoe Community Services.  He hosts an annual barbeque, which usually includes a variety of entertainment.  During the rest of the year, once a month on a Sunday, he, his family and volunteers deliver what has affectionately been called “Meals on Wheels” (a huge meal) to a couple of our accommodation settings. “He is generous to a fault!”  says Price.  “I can’t say enough about the kindness of this man and his family!”  In addition, Mr. Lee provides the organization’s volunteers with an invitation to a complimentary lunch or a gift certificate to his restaurant.  “We’ve recognized Mr. Lee with some awards through our organization – Community Partner of the Year and a Gift of the Heart.  But awards do not even begin to say how honoured we are, to be the beneficiary of his kindness.

Please join us for a delicious meal and some multi-cultural entertainment on Tuesday, June 21st – between 4:00 and 6:30 p.m.  See details on attached flyer!
