Diversity acts as Common Ground

Simcoe Community Services was pleased to host 20 members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) at their main administrative site at 39 Fraser Court on Tuesday, June 29th

“Our mission reads that …We are a diverse community organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families to achieve their full potential…. so we were pleased when the OPP asked to schedule one of their strategic meetings at a “diversity venue”  such as ours, “said Lynn Price.  “As an organization, we are always looking for opportunities where we can share with the public what services and supports we provide and how the public can help provide an inclusive community experience for individuals who have an intellectual disability.”

The officers toured the day program site and learned about the range of supports available for individuals and their families.  The officers thoughtfully brought ice cream which they shared with the individuals supported at the day program and their staff.

Everyone seemed excited about the opportunity to learn more about the other!   How better to end a learning experience than by sharing a cold treat on a hot day!
