The Resource Teacher Program is available to children and their families in Barrie, Bradford and the surrounding townships. Children between the ages of two and school entry, who are at risk of or are experiencing a developmental delay are eligible for this service.
Resource teachers work in collaboration with the family and other professionals to develop an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). Parents are encouraged to be full partners in all aspect of decision making and are actively involved in evaluating the service that their family receives.
Resource teacher support can be provided in the child’s home or at a preschool setting. In-home support includes regular home visits with the family. Support in a preschool setting is available in a variety of community settings including nursery schools, child care programs and playgroups.
The Resource Teacher Program is provided free of charge and is funded through the County of Simcoe of . It is governed by the Day Nurseries Act.
