Barrie Housing Support Services is a housing registry co-sponsored by Simcoe Community Services and the Canadian Mental Health Association. It offers a free housing registry, landlord/tenant mediation, and short term support to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, as well as housing education workshops and community resource information.
A preliminary screening of both prospective tenants and landlords assists in determining an appropriate match. Follow up support is available to ensure that housing is maintained. Barrie Housing Support Services is a member of the Simcoe County Alliance to End Homelessness, an alliance of approximately 70 agencies dedicated to reducing the homelessness in Simcoe County . This program operates out of the Bayfield Mall from Monday to Thursday, 8:30 – 4:30 p.m. The telephone contact number is 739-0485. The program is funded by the County of Simcoe of and the United Way.
