The Simcoe Community Services Foundation purchased the home in January, 2004 with the intent of renting it to ageing individuals who were already residing within the organization’s accommodation services. O’Brien House officially opened as a Simcoe Community Services retirement home in the summer of 2004.
Each person has his/her own bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The home provides 24 hour staffing supports. An in-home cook provides individualized meals.
Supports focus on the promotion of individual rights, informed decision making, community participation and self defined preferred quality of life. An Individual Support Plan is developed annually with support by the person inclusive of those who are important in his/her life.
O’Brien House is licensed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and governed by the Developmental Services Act.
