WHY GIVE

The Foundation partners directly with Simcoe Community Services which was established in 1953 by concerned parents.  Today, over 1500 children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities living in the Barrie, Orillia, and Bradford-West Gwillimbury areas receive support.  There are two main divisions that operate within Simcoe Community Services:  Community Living and Preschool Services.

Funds raised by the Foundation go directly to people and families for services and supports that are not fully funded by government or other funding.

Top reasons to invest in this year’s Annual Campaign - Building Possibilities; Investing in People with Intellectual Disabilities:

  • Government funding for SCS programs has not kept up with increased demand or inflation
  • Inclusion and acceptance builds a stronger community
  • People who have intellectual disabilities are valued members of our community
